The UCLA Jazz Ambassadors is a UCLA-based quartet which brings together musicians from California and Lyon, France. Musicians Jonah Levine, Julian Le and Owen Clapp met French drummer Philip Maniez while he was on an international exchange to UCLA, and their friendship and collaborations led to many performances in LA, from Angel’s Piano Bar to UCLA’s Fowler Museum to Walt Disney Hall. In the pursuit of their passion for jazz and improvised music, they organized a tour of France (and maybe more) which will take place in December 2011. The tour, which involves concerts in clubs as well as outreach performances in schools and conservatories, will allow the UCLA Jazz Ambassadors to meet and mingle with local musicians and audiences and share their love for music.
